Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day mom....you've been gone longer than I knew you....but for 24 years you were such an integral part of my life. My best friend really. You were the one who believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. You were the one who saw the possibilities when all I could see was darkness. You taught me to laugh in the face of adversity, to work hard and not give up. You showed me by your example the rich blessings that come from being friends with everyone. You encouraged me to move forward with a life you knew would bring me much happiness and joy. And it has....thank you! I wish you could have been around to know your grand daughters. They are spectacular young ladies and you would be so proud of them. They have many of your wonderful qualities, for which I am grateful; for when I look at them, I see you - and it makes heaven seem a little closer. Thanks for being my mom and for giving Don and I that extra little push we needed to know that we belonged together. You never gave up on me. I miss you - I love you. Happy Mothers Day.

This is what happens after lots of years in the sun and no sunscreen. I had a basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer) removed from my cheek. Here I am sporting a chipmunk cheek.

Count Your Blessings

I was so touched by this young woman's story. It made me ever more grateful for the blessing of being a mom. I'm sure I didn't relish every moment of every day - but I think I was very blessed to enjoy being a mom. My girls are my best friends and I love them so much!
